Just wondering here Brenda...do you think it might be sorta helpful if
you gave us just a wee hint about what brand and model microwave?

Yep - certainly.
1. locate the owners manual
2. look up error code 1E
3. solve
3i : you're welcome

ps: 1. the owners manual is likely in the shoe box
under the bed in the spare bedroom.

My guess is the microwave is detecting too much radiation coming back
at the magnetron because there is not enough thermal load in a bag of
popcorn. Although popcorn is a very common use of the microwave, it is
tough on them.

To take this guess a little further ..

A simple solution is to add about 1/2 to 1 cup of water in a
microwave-safe container in the back corner of the oven and cook your
popcorn a little longer.
You'll have to experiment a few times to get the combination right for
your particular model.

Brenda-

Chances are the microwave is not compatible with your particular type of
popcorn. Is it plain popcorn in a microwave popper? Is it "microwave"
popcorn in a bag with other seasoning?

It is always possible the microwave is defective. If you tell the make
and model, someone may have experience with it.

... that's sure to help a lot - after all -
a washing machine E1 code must be the same as
a microwave 1E code ... duh.

The poster had an "ID 10 T" (idiot) error when making the reply.

Maybe she makes popcorn in the clothes dryer and was confused?

Try an experiment. Make exactly the same popcorn in your microwave.
Do it down to the last detail. Would it be practical to swap
microwaves with
your parents? If so, see how yours does at making exactly the same popcorn
at their place.

It sure would help a lot to have the manufacturer's name, model number and 60 seconds access to google.

Stupid question but is it microwave popcorn? The Jiffy Pop they've been
using for the last 40 years ain't going to fly.
