overhead l e d lites
I replaced two flush mounted overhead fluorescent lites with led lites. Now they are much too bright. Can I put tape on some of the leds - and make them not quite as bright. Thanks for any reply. ---Herb Some LEDs are dimmable - some are not. |

Most LED lights are so dim you can't see the end of your own arm. I replaced a fluorescent fixture with a LED and it's sweet!. More light and the best part is the color temperature is selectable. I leave in on Nordic white but it does 'warm white' if I want to feel like I'm living in a cave with guttering candles. |

Extra blood, they can't freeze." MID: -- Birdbrain Macaw (now "James Wilkinson") about himself: "I can sleep outside in a temperature of -20C wearing only shorts". (Courtesy of Mr Pounder) -- "Having read the utter bull**** about dying if you fall in a freezing lake for 15 minutes, I've tried it on many occasions. It takes 30 minutes to even get chattering teeth, an hour to shiver nicely, and 2 hours to shiver hard." MID: -- "The alleged timing is, fall into ice water and die of cold in 15 minutes. Do what I do, go swimming in winter in a partially frozen lake, and do so for a lot more than 15 minutes. Jesus Christ your teeth don't even start chattering until about 30 minutes." MID: -- "I've had my fingers unable to operate the key to unlock my car (after swimming in ice water for a couple of hours and running around the mountains naked in a blizzard). But it's not uncomfortable." MID: -- "Your eyes have something called an iris, you can't damage them looking at the sun. An eclipse is dimmer than the normal sun, so even safer. I never used any specs the last time 10 years ago and my eyes are fine." MID: -- Brain damaged Birdbrain Macaw's (now "James Wilkinson" LOL) about himself: "I prefer a good whack to the head with a breaker bar (the 3 foot extendable rod used to get leverage on a car wheel nut)." I had to laugh at one woman who ran out to tell me her dog was going to bite my hand off, then saw me petting it. I once bought a parrot that was extremely vicious. I walked into his house and picked it up, then cuddled it. He said he'd never seen it do that in 10 years." MID: |

[snip] I really don't understand the desire for warm white. I'd much rather have real white than "warm white", which looks like dirty yellow. Perhaps people are choosing it because that's what they had no choice but to accept in the past (AFAIK, real white incandescents are possible, but are hotter and much less efficient). Warm white is the pitiful excuse for light you get from candles, filament bulbs, and cheap CFLs. How can you be so wrong so often? Explain why what I wrote is wrong. Not wrong, just an opinionated tool who thinks everyone should follow your expectations. I explained why I was correct - natural light.* No you explain your side or forever look like an American^W fool. Silly me, I forget you believe your opinion is the gospel for the world to follow.* (e_e) I don't need to explain "my side"(opinion) because it's just an opinion. Many people like the warm colors and others like bright. Some have more difficulty with their eyes while others don't. I don't expect you to understand nor accept that opinion because you're a complacent simpleton. It's not an opinion, it's a fact what wavelengths come from natural sunlight.* Wanting anything other than that is ludicrous.* How many people do you see lighting their homes with blue bulbs or green bulbs? Reread you original comment, you self-righteous ass. You didn't mention wavelengths Do you not even know what makes warm and cool white different?* Go back to school. and the another OPINION from you is those who want anything less are ludicrous....because it doesn't follow as you believe. I simply stated we should have the same as we get from sunlight.* That's not an opinion, it's common sense. You also asked "Why would you want anything other than natural sunlight white?" Question. Yes, I'm still waiting for the answer. Warm white is the pitiful excuse for light you get from candles, filament bulbs, and cheap CFLs. Opinion FACT.* It's not a fair representation of sunlight, it makes objects appear the wrong colour, and it doesn't fully utilise our eyes. Once again....read my lips, many people prefer the warmth of those lights and not the brightness of a higher K value. Nothing factual came from your original statement. Get off the ****ing platform you set yourself so high upon. No, because I know I'm right and you're a stupid (sorry, stoopid, as you can't spell over there) Merkin. You simply don't get it. Thanks for proving you're a clueless dense jackass. |
