It turned out that human DNA matched that of the space alien's intestinal fauna and it was too disturbing for them to be communicating with their own feces. As the centuries passed, humans developed advanced space travel and spread throughout the galaxies. Whenever humans came across the aliens who'd visited Earth centuries before, the aliens would take off, abandoning their colonies on the many planets they'd settled.
