Just out of curiosity, is there a particular reason why a quickchange "adapter" won't do what you want? Yes. They're relatively cheap, easy to find that then your drill is still usable with normal drill bits in a few seconds. My application is not even for a tool, you ****ing moron. But, for what it's worth... I prefer having a tool ready to go. Also for me, like most people in the real world, having a 1 or 2 inch extension on the end of my drill is a bad thing. That is why some drills come with quickchange chucks. Being able to replace a regular chuck with a quickchange chuck makes perfect sense to me. Another reason is because it significantly decreases the length of the tool (for those who can use a quickchange chuck, of course). I have one I paid less than 10 bucks for and only adds about an inch to the length of the drill. Of course, as others suggested, it doesn't get much use because most things you might want it for work better with two drills and everything chucked up nice and tight... That is bull****. Of course it depends on what you have to do. Lots of namebrand high quality drills come with quickchange chucks instead of an ordinary chuck. In fact, I own two of them made by Bosch. Anyway... I guess the trolls should be thanked for keeping the thread alive, since it helps verify the idea that there is no such replacement (quickchange) chuck, even though I could have guessed that. More thanks goes to those who are smart enough to keep their mouths shut. -- See also Google Groups Path: news.astraweb.com!border6.newsrouter.astraweb.com! npeer02.iad.highwinds-media.com!news.highwinds-media.com!feed-me.highwinds-media.com!postnews.google.com!r4g2000prm.googlegro ups.com!not-for-mail From: Larry Fishel ldfishel yahoo.com Newsgroups: alt.home.repair Subject: Replace DeWalt chuck with quick-change chuck?
