You cannot have both. Duct tape is designed to
stick indefinitely, thus cannot be removed without
damage to surface coatings. Masking tape is
designed for removal without damage: no adhesive
can hold fast for a month without damage on removal.

Your best course may be to find out by experiment
how long various brands of masking tape both hold
fast and permit damage-free removal: and then repeat
the masking at intervals as required.

3M makes various grades of painters' masking tape. Some real tough for
things like bricks. Other real gentle (seems like Post-it sticky) for
delicate surfaces. You might try the Post-it type tape. My roll of it is
#2070 and it says good for seven days and is white so would blend in pretty
well with wood work On colder surfaces this could be much longer. I would
try a few pieces a few inches long and see how well it works. Peel off one
piece every week or so. If it doesn't stick well enough, try next grade up.
This is the smooth blue painters tape that is very common. Look at the
rating shown on the wrapping.

Just about any tape that can hold will at least lease hard-to-remove
adhesive crud when finally removed if left for any significant time.

Or use some mechanism other than tape,
like building a plastic covered frame,
and using a shower-curtain rod to hold it in place.

the blue tape from 3m has a 28 day release
in other words
it can be left on for 28 days before it is difficult to remove.

Consider sealing the leaks. Replace the windows if necessary.
