Default vacum bags

i used to use a bagless vacume cleaner, but CR said it didn't clean carpet
as well as bagged ones, and frankly, i agree.

word of warning though: be sure to put the bag on securely. i changed mine
last night, and then after cleaning the stairs found that it came off. not
a huge mess, but enough, plus the waste of a bag.

Actually, my 10 year old Fantom Fury cleans better than any bag vacuum I've
ever owned. It's a bear lugging it up and down the steps (it must weigh 70
lbs.) but cleans really deeply.

Bagless dosen't mean maintenence free. You still need to periodically
change the filters though not as often. If you do not, the suction will
drop off. In a bag model, the bag is the same as the filter so it gets
changed routinely (except by my cheap friend who empties bags to reuse
them). Bag or bagless, there are good and bad models. its not fair to
compare based on that one feature. Do both vacuums have the same size motor
for instance (Amps). I like bagless because you 'll never have to rush out
to the store just to clean the house (buy bags) before company comes over
and many stores don't stock all brand bags. A filter can usually be
temporarily cleaned using the vacuum itself.
