Hood
Hello,
Would you please tell me all about stove hoods. I need a stove hood that is self-contained- is there such a thing. In other words i can have no chimney going out to the out side. the "hood" needs to be directly over the stove; hugging the ceiling. Is there such a thing? Thank you. Truly |

Google "ductless range hood" Consumer reports did a roundup of hoods in August 2006 http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/a...e-hoods_ov.htm to see the ratings, visit your local public library or pay a small fee for access to their oneline website for a month. They don't talk about ductless hoods though, as far as I recall. I can't imagine they're terribly effective, and I'm guessing you'd have to clean the filters like mad for them to do much at all to help things. Best Regards, -- Todd H. http://www.toddh.net/ |

Best Regards, -- Todd H. http://www.toddh.net/ Hello, All these "hoods" seem to be slapped up against the wall, however i want one that stands alone- hug-up against the ceiling. All i want is to trap the grease. Fumes etc. donot bother me. Cost be dammed . . . A simple fan running can trap so much dirt and grease on its fins, surely a costly hood can do better. Truly |

Most of the hoods come with a cover you put over the vent hole and the fan will blow the air out into the kitchen through a special filter. They're designed that way. You might have to change a metal panel in the hood to make the fan vent out the front. No problem. The instructions are in the box and they were very easy for me to follow. I'm not sure how long those filters will last; maybe 6 months or longer, depending on use. I bought this at Lowe's, It was a GE, I don't have the model # here with me now. Pj |
