Kenwood car stereos display "code"
I don't have Kenwood car stereos in my shop presently but read in a
local chat site that someone is offering to uncode Kenwood stereos that read "code" on the display so I would like to know what's the uncoding sequence.Thanks. Kenwood has an anti-theft feature, that allows you to choose a four number
code. When activated ("code on" in display at startup), this feature kills the unit when power is interupted (theft). You have to enter the four digit code to get the unit to work when power is restored. The procedure to clear the anti-theft measure is usually available only to authorized service centers. I'm assuming that the shop offering to clear the code also requires proof of purchase? "Sidney" wrote in message om... I decode them myself but you must have the stereo in your hands to do it.
Most people do not trust sending their unit in to anyone they do not know so it usually never amounts to much. I don't blame them either but if they want it working again they must send it to me or anyone else that can do it. Its not something that can be "talked" through. Especially without a working understanding of the stereo itself. I get stereos from a local police auction on a regular basis thus why I was forced to figure out how to do it. Unfortunately I have shelves of car stereos that work great and have nothing to do with them since a certain on-line auction site is worthless for being able to make any "profit" after wasting your time listing the item. But its still fun to tinker and get my hands on the latest Kenwood car stereos. I guess one day I will just dig a big hole and bury them all. "Sidney" wrote in message om... I get top dollar for stuff I sell on ebay, if it doesn't sell there, I post it on Craigslist and give it away, it's rare to get more $ elsewhere, no way to have such a big audience. |

And I'd like to hear it. I pass on car radios at garage sales all the time. Seem to be legitimate cases where the owner never knew the code and didn't even know they needed one until the car battery had to be replaced. mike -- Return address is VALID.
