MiniDV cassette in Sony DCR-PC330...
Hi,
My teenager came up showing his Sony camcorder with the cassette stuck halfways in/out. The LCD screen displays no error code, just 'Re-attach the power source'. I have done that and the battery is also fully charged. Anyone here having comments or tips on how to proceed to unhook the stuck cassette mecanism ...? Image of the situation: http://kuntigi.net/download/DCR-stuck.jpg Thanks in advance Geir |

Is the tape wrapped round the drum still, can you see? In any case, if you are to solve this without damaging anything, at least some disassembly will probably be needed. Search eserviceinfo.com for the manual, or at least one for a similar model. -B |

Nice thing about some manufactures, they actually put arrows on the "Take these out" screws so you don't end up unscrewing something and hearing the "clink of death" as a blind nut falls off inside somewhere. Usually sony is so interested in shaving the last 100th of a penny of the final cost, that they'll use a piece of tape instead of screws even if it reduces the lifespan to 5%, as long as it is a likely to be at least a day over the warranty. |

It's possible sony just just ahead of the curve when it came to shoddy stuff. I don't recall any other brand of television that required a 2x4 to hold the cabinet up and from collapsing under it's own weight with the rear cover revmoved. |
