Hey All,
Just wondering if anybody knows what manufacturers made 6 x 54 inch belt sanders? Do you know if these were edge sanders or flat, or both? Thanks for any info. Marc |

That sounds like it would one of those flat\vertical sanders that
sometimes has a disk also. Not sure but seems about the right size. On Feb 28, 7:04*pm, marc rosen wrote: Hey All, Just wondering if anybody knows what manufacturers made 6 x 54 inch belt sanders? *Do you know if these were edge sanders or flat, or both? *Thanks for any info. Marc |

Marc How about a 6x48?http://www.grizzly.com/products/Comb...48-Belt-12-Dis... Thanks guys but I have a 6 x 48 belt/12 inch disk sander in my garage. I have a box of 6 x 54 belts and was going to call some machinery dealers today to find out what they fit but I thought I'd give the group a try first. Marc |

Thanks Dennis,
That looks similar a Delta edge sander I once saw about 5 years ago. (probably like the one that Kate referred to above.) I'm glad you posted the OWWM site. Maybe someone there would want the belts. Marc |

If you buy my spare copy of _Making and Modifying Machines_, you can make your own, Marc. http://fwd4.me/HTB ($22-$75 + s/h Amazone) I'll have it delivered it to your door for $19. Depending upon how many you have (and you time and inclination) you could maybe modify an old 6x48" sander to use them (in the spirit of Larry Jaques' advice). |

Hey Larry and Dennis, I would love to find a good home for them but I won't be "Frankensteining" my 6 x 48's. I was in the habit of picking up out of commision machines and trying to rebuild them but each time I work on a machine as contrasted to working with a machine I start to get frustrated. No more mods for me. Just to go tangential here a bit, while I was rebuilding the upper belt portino of a 6x4 /12 inch disk sander I can across a great deal on a nearly perfect 6 x 48 belt only machine. That one stays in my basement and the combination machine is in my garage. No power in the world will get me to modify them unless they stop making 6 x 48 belts. But thanks again for the suggestions and offer. Marc |
