I recall some time ago before I purchased a router, hearing/reading about
the Hitachi M12V plunge router as being a very good router. I did purchase
the Hitachi KM12VC w/ fixed and plunge base, which is a great router, IMO, I
have the opportunity to purchase a used M12V for a very good price, at least
I think it's a good price, which I was thinking of using for a router table.
Therefore, I can use my KM12VC for free routing and the M12V for table
routing and not worry about removing a router all the time.

Any input about this router and the idea of using two routers for what I
stated?

I have 2 M12Vs. I use one for stiles, one for rails, and a Milwaukee
5625-20 for raised panels.
For "free" routing, a DeWalt 621, a 618. A Hitachi M8V, Porter Cable 7310,
a Bosch "Colt" and a Craftsman 17542.

I haven't had a problem with any of them but I think the M12V is overkill
for "hand" or "free" routing.
But if you can get one at a "very good" price, go for it.

I agree. That's the combination I have. The M12V is a fine table
router if a little big for hand use.
