There have been a few folks here asking about Steel City Table saws.

A few comments:

a) they tested hybrid saws. Most of the Steel City line
is industrial grade stuff (cabinet saws, etc.).

b) they gave the DeWalt a high grade partially based on it being the
most portable saw, which I find a bit odd in a review which otherwise
based its comments on how the saws behaved in a factory production
setting.

c) All the saws were run on 110, althouygh most/all could have been
run on 220.

d) The test of 'power' was pretty subjective -- running poplar
boards through by hand but pushing them as hard as possible, and
timing the results. Seems to me if you're doing production
runs where speed is essential, this is the wrong type of saw to be using.

Where's the data? No offense to Mr. Martin testing these but all he
offers is a very brief subjective opinion with nothing to quantify the
difference or even back up his "opinions". I own a Jet saw and have no
interest in pushing Steel City or any of the other brands but this
comparison is substandard at best.

Thanks Andy for the info. As I said in a previous post, I am really
looking at the Steel City Saw. I agree w/you that the article left a
little to be desired .... ah weeellll
