Pressure washer snapped hose quick connector
This is where a standard garden hose, clips onto the pressure - like a
normal male Hoselock type garden hose quick connector. It looks identical to the male connector adaptor, used on a threaded garden tap, except is has a slightly larger internal thread on the plastic adaptor. It seems to be around 1mm larger internal diameter, than the standard garden tap thread. Anyone know what I need to be looking for please? For now, I am trying sleeving the inside of the plastic adaptor, with a used bullet case, glued with Araldite. The bullet case has a taper, which almost matches the bore of the adaptor. |

I've found various adaptors for pressure washers by a combination of ebay and google. Quoting the manufacturer helps. |

If your pressure washer is a Karcher then likely you can get a replacement off their website. If you are desperate I think Hozelock do a variety of bib tap adaptors. I got one that fitted a standard bib tap but had an insert that fitted a smaller version, I think they do one that fits a larger size too, certainly I have seen bib taps in garden centres that have a larger than standard threaded end so adaptors must exist.

There are at least 3 different "standard garden tap threads". Probably depending on the age of the tap. Hozelock make adaptors which you should find in good garden centres or even Homebase. -- from KT24 in Surrey, England "I'd rather die of exhaustion than die of boredom" Thomas Carlyle |

I think it is just a €śstandard€ť Hoselock type connector. Theyre made by many people these days though and there will be small differences in €śnon-critical€ť dimensions. Why not buy a brass one? Unlikely to break again and probably has a larger internal bore. Tim -- Please don't feed the trolls |

Tim+ was thinking very hard :

I have several of the usual size, one which is bigger and almost tightens. Why not buy a brass one? Unlikely to break again and probably has a larger internal bore. I have a brass Hozelock version which has a too small internal thread. |

I have several of the usual size, one which is bigger and almost tightens. Is it possible it is some American thread. I thought Europe tended to use BSP, or possibly some metric thread. TPI or pitch and overall diameter may narrow it down and can be put in google often with at least some hits. Try the metric and Imperial version of the measurements. The major diameter will be different from the measured diameter so judicious guessing helps. Why not buy a brass one? Unlikely to break again and probably has a larger internal bore. I had forgotten that its a finer thread than normal taps. Tim -- Please don't feed the trolls |

Well now, whilst stumbling around my garage I found my old Karcher and had a look at the water input thread. Well I couldnt see it properly with the hoselock connector on it so I tried to unscrew it. Too tight to remove by hand so I got out a pump spanner. It *seemed* to be unscrewing but actually all the threads were stripping off the plastic fitting. F*ck! Fortunately I have few standard hoselock adaptors kicking around and whaddaya know, it just screwed straight on tightened up properly. Of course my machine may not be the same as yours but I cant see why they wouldnt use standard garden hose adaptors on the inlet. Tim |
