You not tell him LEDs are more efficient. I am sitting under 108 Watts worth of LED's here, but there are 8 of them.

Not really ... unless you're dabbling in LED grow lights (hmmm).

250W HPS would be the bare minimum - 600W is probably a better bet.


Nice to have an expert on board. What varieties do you recommend?

That would be for reef aquariums.
Corals tend to need a lot of light.

300W of LEDs is common for a reef aquarium.
