Microwave sensor lighting...
Most sensors, infra red, microwave and ultrasonic seem to trigger for no
apparent reason. I've tried them all back in the past. Maybe the tech is better now, but these things that detect movement all have their drawbacks. Microwave sensor lighting...

Anyone got any ? Any good compared to PIRs? I have a ceiling-mounted one in our utility room to turn on the lights. It replaced a PIR one which was always being false-triggered by stuff happening outside the nearby window. The microwave one isn't triggered by anything outside, but is triggered by us walking above it in the room upstairs! Overall though, it seems much more predictable than the PIR. I'm happy with it. |

Maybe the tech is better now, No maybe about it. but these things that detect movement all have their drawbacks. Yes, but not major ones. My neighbour has them and now that they have been setup properly, the only false alarm has been after they had a celebration for the kids that used helium balloons and eventually the ones that ended up at the ceiling ran out of helium and fell down, triggering the alarm system "Jim K" wrote in message o.uk... Glass is all but opaque in the thermal IR band. Wood and plastic frames may pass enough though. PIR doesn't get on with having the sun on it. -- Regards, Martin Brown |

You might have other things triggering them. |
