I had a DV27 on my Mk2 Cortina and a Firestick on a biscuit tin lid
until the day I fitted a centre loaded Thunderpole atop the roof of
M&D's house and 30W linear amp.

The Thunderpole also matched up nicely on 2m in the later years and a
significant number of HF bands with the auto-tuner on my Kenwood TS440
(which I still have lurking in a cupboard somewhere)

The checklist for the RX bit checks out 100%, so I am going to have to try different antennas, but I cannot transmit with the discone.

The problem is that the radio is deaf compared with the Icom
IC-R20 and its easy to prove that by putting each on the discone.

so I am going to have to try different antennas,

And when you do you will see that the radio
is deaf compared with the Icom IC-R20

but I cannot transmit with the discone.
