Default Maccat 839 chainsaw

....won;t oil it's chain bar & chain...

I acquired this recently and it starts&runs really well but little or no
flow from the bar oil. If it had been run "dry" would the oil feed pump
be borked?

Any pointers?

TIA

NB Goggle Gropes is knacked again.

When this happened to my Ryobi it turned out to be that a plastic drive
gear to the pump was stripped.

Agreed for Ryobi. But not heard of a Maccat.
The "pump" is not very fancy. Dismantle and look. BUT it is deep down in
guts. On Ryobi you would have to take off Chain cover/adjuster, then chain
bar, then brake, then.....set aside some time, but where are you going to
get a spare?

Does it have an adjustment screw to change the amount of lubrication?

First thing to check is that wood chippings have not got in the oil tank and
bunged up the outlet.
Or got into the oil pump.
Commonest fault by far.

Dismantle & wash out with petrol

I got a mate of mine to do it because he is good with two strokes, but
he found the genuine Ryobi spare easily enough on the web.
