When I open this newsgroup, Thunderbird sometimes fully expands several
random threads that I've not been reading anyway. Is there any way to prevent this happening? A setting somewhere perhaps? It only happens intermittently, every few days. Its just done it again now expanding 6 long random threads; so I need to close them again first before I can scan down the list looking for the latests threads. |

SteveW So try 17.0 - for me restarting T/B leaves all threads closed. So far. :-) -- Rod |

If it's a thread that you don't plan to read at all you can just hit 'k' on any message in the thread and you won't see that thread again. |

Mine does it in V2.0.0.something (not a typo - I hated the v3 upgrade) - it's been there for years!!! Scott |

Hi David Having seen the thread, I upgraded from version 16.0 to 17.0. I have the same problem and the upgrade didn't solve the issue. Useful tip about the \ contracting all threads from Andy/John! I was just pleased to find a news reader that I could import my former Outlook Express folders into when moving to Windows 7 from XP. Phil |

I don't seem to suffer from it - I guess at least partly because I hardly ever close/start Thunderbird. So even if it happened once a week, so be it. But if it were several times a day, that would be annoying. -- Rod |
