Ooh much better. Thanks. _this_ one has some famous people on my
birthday (Messier, Kelvin, Messerschmitt, Maurice Wilkes, Laurie Lee
etc) whereas the other one the only one I'd even _heard_ of was Greg Lemond.

I feel very young on here :P at 16 years old.

Phew, I was beginging to think every one here was over 50...

I guess most younger people have been brought up as "consumers", if
summat breaks you chuck it and buy a new one. Not tek it apart and
fix it. If you want something done about the house they "get a man
in", trouble is I bet most of those men are "of an age" and when they
stop or shuffle off who is coming up behind them? David, looks like
there will be plenty of work out there for those that can.

Cheers
Dave.

Since a young age, I have always been one to take things apart and try
find out what was actually wrong, a lot of the time I used to end up
breaking stuff by overtightening, fiddling for no reason etc but
obviously as I grew up I learnt how to properly do things. I have been
reading stuff on this group since I was about 10!

Much more comprehensive but still a bit hit and miss. I share my
birthday with, among others, Ho Chi Minh, Malcolm X and Pol Pot. Also
Colin Chapman, no relation but one of several that have two entries.

No mention of David Jacobs. I am sure he is more famous than some of
those that are listed.

Much thanks for all the kind comments. I am now officially an old *******.

Great day on Saturday. SWMBO bought me a Kindle, read two books on it
already, bloody brilliant, total convert.

Daughters round for drinks & pressies - bottle of Glenfiddich from
youngest & tickets for Squeeze live @ Rochester Castle from eldest
amongst other goodies.

Great meal at Cosmo - all you can eat Chinese buffet, my fave eating
place - then a river cruise on the Kingswear Castle paddle steamer -
steam, boat, bar, music - what better.

Life is good.

They are a small chain http://www.cosmo-restaurants.co.uk/find.php?rst_id=1

The buffet is always on, thats all they do. Large range of food, all
very good.

The Chatham one is in the High Street, not far from Argos, reasonable
parking nearby.

Brings back very happy memories of when TV in the UK wasn't all about
ratings.

Thames TV children's department made a prog about Emily Dickinson called
The Belle of Amherst which won an EMMY. It starred Claire Bloom in the
single roll. Produced and directed by Adrian Brown. The entire production
team (of which I was one) was invited to a meal in a very nice restaurant
in Kings Road afterwards to celebrate the award. Where Ms Bloom presided
and entertained the entire evening. A lovely lady.

Premature these days I am sorry to say.

We are in transition to bus passes at 65. People born on or after 6
April 1950 qualify on the day that a woman born on the same day reaches
state pension age.

So Dave has to wait until 6 September 2012.

Sorry to be a party pooper.
