Default What makes a good starter set?

TOOLSTOP Part No: BOS-JOINERSDEAL-L

Bosch Joiners Tool Kit Deal includes GHO 15-82 Planer, GST75BE Jigsaw,
GEX125-1AE Sander, and Heavy Duty Bosch Toolbag
GHO 15-82 Planer Features:

Powerful 600 Watt motor - Delivers 16,000 rpm for best surface finish

50% more planing depth - 1.5mm with continuous adjustment for faster
work

WoodRazor Blade System - The easiest blade change on the market -
Loosen the two fastening screws with the Allen key, push the planer
blade sidewards out of the blade drum, assemble the new planer blade,
tighten the fastening screws again

Intelligent design - Features that aid quicker, safer and more precise
work

Cutting depth 0-1.5mm, continuously adjustable
3 V grooves - For easy and flexible chamfering

[I'd rather have a plane plane and get something for such specials.]

4m rubber cord - For increased working range

Switch lock-off - For left and right handed use

+++++++

GST75BE Jigsaw Features:

High level of convenience with Bosch "SDS" for easy, tool-free, one-
hand saw blade changes

Sawdust blower enables a clear view, can be switched-off for effective
dust extraction

Exemplary running smoothness when sawing which ensures best results as
well as fatigue-free working

Control electronics for material-oriented working

4-level pendulum action for tear-free cuts up to aggressive cuts

High level of rigidity due to the combination of robust steel base
plate and aluminium front cap

++++++++

GEX125-1AE Random Orbit Sander Features:

Bosch micro-filter system: perfect, efficient dust extraction

Speed preselection for material-specific working

Sanding pad brake prevents damage (e.g. scoring) on workpiece

Random orbit motion plus rotation ensure the finest finish with high
sanding performance

Velcro-type fastening for rapid, convenient sanding sheet changes

[Waste of time unless you need one.]

I don't need a planer. But what comprises a real joiners tool kit?

+++++++

Bosch Heavy Duty Bag Features:
Heavy duty toolbag to hold multiple tools and accessories, keep them
safe and prevent from damage
Tough durable nylon construction, and double stitiching for durability
Hard bottom side pockets for stability and strength
Multi-pocketed for assorted tools and accessories
2 large pouches on the ends of the bag
Reinforced shoulder strap for added support as well as extra strong
carry handles
A wide top opening and easy access zip design for on-the-go use

A Hand Bag?

Comes with:
1 Saw blade for jigsaw
Allen key for jigsaw
Sanding paper G80
Micro filter box for sander
Carry case for sander
Dust bag for planer
Parallel guide for planer

Big deal.

A basic joiners kit is a hand plane but I dare say times are changing.
You still need a hand plane to clean up after an electric plane.

That's 1.
2 is a drill/driver
They must make them?

I suppose a jig saw is a good second saw and more versatile than a
circular.

I'd want more for my £200.

Their drill drivers are all on the pricey side.

Those tools would be about 100 quid each without the deal, and quality
of them is superb.

I agree a power planer is a nonessential tool for most people (though
for taking off high spots off joists and beams, it has saved me vast
amounts of sweat).

The jigsaw, if it's anything like the gst135, is remarkable in how it
can cope with heavy timbers with ease.

Horses for courses - if they save you more in time costs by buying
them than not - buy them. If not, don't.
