Default STORY OF A LITTLE BOY AND HER MOTHER... HEART TOUCHING

little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while
she was fixing supper, and he handed her a piece of paper that he had
been writing on. After his mom dried her hands on an apron, she read
it, and this is what it said:

TearsFor cutting the grass: $5.00

For cleaning up my room this week: $1.00

For going to the store for you: $.50

Baby-sitting my kid brother while you went shopping: $.25

Taking out the garbage: $1.00

For getting a good report card: $5.00

For cleaning up and raking the yard: $2.00

Total owed: $14.75

Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could see
the memories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned
over the paper he'd written on, and this is what she wrote:

For the nine months I carried you while you were growing inside me:
No
Charge.

For all the nights that I've sat up with you, doctored and prayed for
you: No Charge.

Gut-wrenching, more like.

SWMBO and Brat One have friends who e-mail (emetic-mail?) them this kind
of sickly stuff. How can you tell somebody like that to desist, without
hurting their obviously over-sensitive feelings?

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "raj"
saying something like:

For cleaning up and raking the yard: $2.00

For reading this awful ****e: One million dollars.

Total owed: $14.75

And the rest.

With great difficulty!

I have had a few old friends and a distant relative emailing me similar
rubbish including old jokes that had been doing the rounds on Usenet for
years and "power point" presentations that were equally banal/ sickly/
gushy crap.

Each time I that I have tried to, tactfully, suggest that they desist
has either been met by no further communication or a tirade of abuse.

I now ignore them.

Not much help - I know!

Steve

It's the lyrics of some god-awful (obviously) US country and western
song I can vaguely remember from my childhood, isn't it? Johnny Cash or
someone?

The full cost of my love 's ... No CHARGGGE.

Then he writes PAID IN FULL, still gets me that (how do you do a sarcasm
smiley?).

Mmm just had a look at the title, shouldn't it be "Story of a little boy
and HIS mother"?

Popular in West Virginia. Accompanied on the banjo.

You can't play a banjo right with less than a dozen fingers. It's a
scientific fact. It's why so many banjoists come from West Virginia.

Not if you are Asian apparently.
Now in the days of the British Raj....

Or was it from a Chinese site? They do funny things behind the bamboo
I heard. A gang of criminals in one village there once had a bunch of
kids registered as pigs for tax purposes.

10 litters of long pork. No charge. One wonders just how far they
would go in a market driven economy.
