Default Baxi Solo 1 PF Fan Motor

Does anyone know a source for the electric motor? The gas spares people
want £120 for the whole assy. I've dismantled it several times to relube
the bearings but the ball race one is starting to grind a bit. Otherwise
the boiler is OK.

Don't know about just the motor - but Geoff (who frequently posts here) will
sell you a re-conditioned fan for about £45. See

Hmmm, still works out at around £60 by the time VAT & PP is added. I
suppose I could adapt a washing machine pump motor or try one of these:

If you want to frig about with something which is vital to the operation of
your boiler - and hence to keeping your house warm in the dead of winter -
just to save a few bob, feel free!

I would personally want to be sure that I was fitting something which would
be reliable, and which would drive to fan at the correct speed.

I think the OP has a point though.I fixed my Baxi Solo2 fan by
replacing the thermal fuse, re-greasing the bearing and replacing the
little fan that keeps the motor cool that had somehow become detached.
Cost: about 50p. That was 6 months ago with no problems since.
If you feel you're up to replacing the thermal fuse, it's worth
checking. Mind you, then you have to determine why it has blown...

£62.28 to be precise

That would be illegal, you can't fit non approved parts to boilers just
like that. It also has to be the correct power rating

or try one of these:

They use Abcot fans - Baxi are currently taking Abcot to court for
selling fans which are not approved following several cases of their fan
motors catching fire
