Baxi Solo 1 PF Fan Motor
Does anyone know a source for the electric motor? The gas spares people
want £120 for the whole assy. I've dismantled it several times to relube the bearings but the ball race one is starting to grind a bit. Otherwise the boiler is OK. |

Don't know about just the motor - but Geoff (who frequently posts here) will sell you a re-conditioned fan for about £45. Hmmm, still works out at around £60 by the time VAT & PP is added. I
suppose I could adapt a washing machine pump motor or try one of these: http://www.avenuesupplies.co.uk/inde...pid=1587&sid=1 |

I would personally want to be sure that I was fitting something which would be reliable, and which would drive to fan at the correct speed. -- Cheers, Set Square ______ Please reply to newsgroup. Baxi Solo 1 PF Fan Motor
I think the OP has a point though.I fixed my Baxi Solo2 fan by
replacing the thermal fuse, re-greasing the bearing and replacing the little fan that keeps the motor cool that had somehow become detached. Cost: about 50p. That was 6 months ago with no problems since. If you feel you're up to replacing the thermal fuse, it's worth checking. Mind you, then you have to determine why it has blown... |

I suppose I could adapt a washing machine pump motor That would be illegal, you can't fit non approved parts to boilers just like that. It also has to be the correct power rating or try one of these: http://www.avenuesupplies.co.uk/inde...pid=1587&sid=1 They use Abcot fans - Baxi are currently taking Abcot to court for selling fans which are not approved following several cases of their fan motors catching fire -- geoff |
