My wife's cousin and her husband used to live in Sagle, Idaho. We have
been there several times.

What this guy should do as a first test is to run a snow plow over the
test panels several times.

If that took off you know where it would go right? Ultimately to total
control and monitoring of all powered movement. Induction systems for
charging electric vehicle while they are driving to reduce battery
requirements. Measurement of power consumption in real time by vehicle
serial number, and transmission back for automatic deduction of charges from
your financial accounts.

You can't claim it will never happen due to personal rights. Its already
been legally established that driving on public roads is a privilege and not
a right.

I almost didn't post this when the cold chill went up the back of my neck.

You missed the part about them using portions of the roads to power
the rest?

And those free-ze/thaw cycles and then extreme summer heat... all those
vicious, road destroying, explansion/contraction cycles.

Nice idea - if it could be made to work in the real world.

They paved some roads with 'Glassfalt' in ohio in the '70s & '80s. They
were great at night, since they reflected a little light from your
headlights on rural roads.

Glass holds up nicely to freeze/thaw cycles. And of course...not all
glass is test tube glass.

The new cell phones..glass faces...are some damned tough sombitches.

And some can be bent in a half circle.

Not bad for a bit of glass less than 1/16" thick.

That glass road through...Id think studded snow tires....might not be
a good match....

There is an outfit near here that makes pulverizing equipment for glass
recycling. They run extended tests and will sell you (cheap) the glass
that they finish with. Stuff is about as fine as common sand. Works
great as winter sand. The small edges really grab. They also used it in
pavement. Shows up nice at night. They use it in the parking lot and
driveways there and when you drive in the headlights make the stuff glow.

Must have. All I saw was a quick mention of it in theory.
The demo panels looked like signs. Didn't see any practical
tests of the solar part.
As was mentioned, a snow plow and a decade of studded tires
and dripping oil might take its toll on the transmission
efficiency for a solar system. Snow and night-time would
be key issues in the short term.

Putting solar panels in a road right of way can be a great use
of otherwise unused public spaces. All we need is a cost-effective
solar acquisition/energy storage system and we're good to go.
I'm sure someone will let us know when that happens.
Putting it under the driving
surface is insane with current technology.

A good project for recycling glass.

It was recycled glass. From mostly brown & green bottles, the rest
was other glass that wasn't reused for new bottles. Things like window
glass, old mirrors and other colors of glass. It cost more than Asphalt,
even though it was cheaper per year between re-paving.

How well will studded tires and snow chains work on them for half the
