Almost nothing related to the practicality of them glass roads. More about highways with built-in signs. You missed the part about them using portions of the roads to power the rest? Must have. All I saw was a quick mention of it in theory. The demo panels looked like signs. Didn't see any practical tests of the solar part. As was mentioned, a snow plow and a decade of studded tires and dripping oil might take its toll on the transmission efficiency for a solar system. Snow and night-time would be key issues in the short term. Putting solar panels in a road right of way can be a great use of otherwise unused public spaces. All we need is a cost-effective solar acquisition/energy storage system and we're good to go. I'm sure someone will let us know when that happens. Putting it under the driving surface is insane with current technology. __ "A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. A good project for recycling glass. It was recycled glass. From mostly brown & green bottles, the rest was other glass that wasn't reused for new bottles. Things like window glass, old mirrors and other colors of glass. It cost more than Asphalt, even though it was cheaper per year between re-paving. -- Anyone wanting to run for any political office in the US should have to have a DD214, and a honorable discharge. |
