Default Ok Software/Windows Guys.....

Got an issue on this computer that has cropped up and its driving me
nuts.

with any file named "setup.exe"......it comes up with file not found.

Change the name to just about anything *.exe..and it runs.

Im running Avast, but that doesnt appear to be causing it, as I killed
it.and it still does it.

No matter what software I use to open the file..it cant find it on
running

I get a wierd c:\docume~1\Gunner\locals~1\temp\rarsfx1\setup.exe file
not found.

It looks like its in the registry..but I cant figure out where the
problem is.

Anyone got a minute?

Gunner

in contrast to the popular conception supported by newspapers

Thanks...I did some reviews and came up with:

http://www.regsofts.com/free_registr...try_repair.htm

Downloaded it and it found some 4500 problems with my registry. So I
reviewed a significant number of them..and yeah..I had those bits and
pieces of software on the puter at one time or another.

So I ran its cleaner mode...and then ran it again..this time I had
285...ran it again....87...ran it again...11...Ill run it again later
today..but I got to tell you..the freaking computer now FLYS!!!

Downloads went way way up in speed as well via my cellphone tether.

Some really good **** Maynard!!

I was starting to worry and plan about doing a wipe job and
reinstall..and really didnt want to do it. Looks like Im good to go
again for another couple years.

Ive tried a few others..and all want $39.95 for the key to get em to do
anything besides scan..and none of them Id run had found 4000+ issues
with the puter..

Here's another powerful system repair tool:
http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html

I don't like some of the changes it's made, and now use it only to find
stuff that I then examine and repair manually.

This solves most of the problems for XP and 2K.
http://www.f-prot.com/support/window...n_faq/122.html

It's simpler and quicker to make hidden files visible and delete everything
in \Content.IE5\ from another account with administrative priviledges.

CCcleaner tends to eat things it shouldn't.
So do several others that I've tried over he years.

Glary has proven to be safe; never cause a side issue.
Glary Utilities... http://www.glarysoft.com/

For Anti-virus, Vipre has proven itself. It's not free, but it's not
at all expensive either. And it does work, which is more that I can
say for the free ones (or the expensive commercial stuff either!).

Whoo -hoo, yerself - and thanks for the recommendation. I only
had 1100 problems, but just removing those has made a big difference.
Me like mucho.

thanks again.

Glary lives on my computer..but it didnt clean out the bad entries on
the registry. Some 4000 of them. I now have 3. And they dont seem to
make much difference.

Ill check it out. Im currently using Avast on the Winblows boxes and it
seems to work well enough, though it tends to slow things down a smidge
when running all the gizmos when Im on the net.

Thanks for the link. I just used it and it fixed 3368 errors. Also
freed up 4GB of disc space!
