Democrats founded the KKK and maintain it to this day. The KKK was the terrorist arm of the DNC when it had millions of members. Just like the IRA was the terrorist wing of Sinn Fein. But any association between the DNC and the KKK is being lost as history is being revised. You sure as hell are not going to find it in a high school American history book... had to make room for the chapter on the global warming faith. When was the last time you read a high school American History textbook, Clark? That assumes you *ever* read one, of course. From _America, a Narrative History_, one of my son's high school AP American History books: "The prototype of terrorist groups was the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), first organized in 1866 by some young men of Pulaski, Tennessee, as a social club with the costumes, secret ritual, and mumbo-jumbo common to fraternal groups. At first a group of pranksters, they soon turned to intimidation of blacks and white Republicans... "Klansmen focused their terror on prominent Republicans, black and white...Three white "scalawag" Republicans were murdered in Georgia in 1870..." And it goes on. Throughout that chapter, they describe how the Southern Democrats resisted Republican efforts at reconstruction in many ways, including lynching "scalawags" (Southern white Republicans). The kids who read those books also learn how, and why, those Southern Democrats became today's Southern Republicans, and why the Southern states today have such a red tint. From having proofread all of my son's many high school and college history papers, I can assure you that high school students today -- at least, those who have the good fortune not to live in Texas or Kansas -- have a far better and more accurate introduction to American History than anything your generation, or mine, were exposed to in the public schools. We're the ones who were fed the bull****. All you have to do is read the rightards' twisting of history on this NG to recognize it. -- Ed Huntress Continue the story.... Those Southern white Democrats long ago left the Democratic party for the Dixiecrats. Later they all became Republicans. Today these heirs of the KKK Southern white Democrats have captured control of the Republican Party. Time marches on! It has become, "Hate Obama for the color of his skin and America be damned" Woodrow Wilson, friend of the KKK while Pres, was a progressive democrat who spent time in the South. |
