Two distinct degrees NOW. But the statement " It WAS the
same ............" is absolutely true.

Yup. At Michigan Tech there was "communications option" and "power
option" differing in a few courses, but the degrees awarded were the
same: BSEE (or MSEE).

A director of engineering at GM once told me that the value of
engineers wasn't what they knew as found, but what they could learn
and continue to learn throughout a career. He was responding to my
question re why an automobile company (in a time when the only
electronic device in a car was the radio) would hire EE's. He said
because they could learn whateverthehell they decided to learn,
including design of engines and transmissions.

I am the Sword of my Family
and the Shield of my Nation.
If sent, I will crush everything you have built,
burn everything you love,
and kill every one of you.
