Well, there is a bunch of "Townsend" machines on auction ending
today. I could not figure out what they do. Looks like drilling and
shaving at the same time.

Haven't you noticed that the number part changes regularly? It
appears to be the PID (Process ID) from the unix/linux system from which
he is posting -- and it will change every time he starts up his
newsreader.
