Further rites of spring.
It's a beautiful, if high fire danger (trees not green) day, and you've got to go pretty far into the woods to find snow. I know, because I took a bit of a walk to get aural bearings on the grouse. Sounds like three active right now, drumming and dancing. Watched the cranes yesterday afternoon, bowing and squawking, fluttering and bobbing. They raised a pair of chicks last year, and if love can find a way.... But above all, there's the reason I went out in the first place, because I am busy making drawers, with pine dust from head to toe. All our bedding from mattress pad to quilt is now on the line, and when we slide into bed tonight, it's going to smell like sunshine and the spring breeze. Is there any greater aphrodisiac than spring-kissed sheets? Now if only that pin chuck I ordered would arrive, I'd start spinning some more shaving-makers.... |
