Palin to Resign as Alaska Governor on July 26

By Philip Rucker and Eli Saslow
Washington Post Staff Writers
Friday, July 3, 2009 4:06 PM

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) announced this afternoon she will resign
from office on July 26 and return to private life, a stunning decision
by last year's Republican vice presidential candidate to leave office
before the end of her first term.

"We know we can effect positive change outside government at this
moment in time on another scale and actually make a difference for our
priorities," Palin said in a news conference alongside a lake in her
hometown of Wasilla, Alaska.

Using a basketball analogy, Palin said, "I know when it's time to pass
the ball for victory."

Palin, 45, is a major star in the GOP and is seen as a leading
candidate for the party's presidential nomination in 2012. Her
decision not to run for reelection in 2010 and to leave office
imminently came as a shock to Republican strategists today.

"We've seen a lot of nutty behavior from governors and Republican
leaders in the last three months, but this one is at the top of that,"
said John Weaver, a longtime friend and confidant of Sen. John McCain
(R-Ariz.), the party's presidential nominee in 2008 whose of selection
of Palin catapulted the first-term Alaska governor to national
prominence.

Alaska Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell (R), who will succeed Palin, appeared
with Palin and complimented her service to the state.

Good for her! Who in their right mind would want to be in politics?
Notice, most politicians couldn't get a real job and actually produce
something if they had to.

So the girl can't hold a job....no surprise...typical Republican.

In hindsight it is good that McCain/Palin lost the White House....she
would be quitting after only five months.

Hopefully Alaska has learned when you elect a Republican, you get
little to nothing for your efforts.

Now she is fairly immune to the constant ethics complaints (trumped up), can grab a job on
Fox that pays good, pay down personal legal expenses and keep her face in the news. If
the former governor of Arkansas can do it, she can too.

Don't write her off yet.

I could careless about this worthless dumb bitch. She cost McCain the
election. For picking her he deserved to lose. Since an idiot like you
never can add any real content I'll add some to this worthless thread
by asking a good question and providing some content actually worth
thinking about rather than this dumb bitch.

What's the best way to rebuild our economy and perhaps help
manufacturing as well?

My answer:

Just maybe the answer is to build nuclear power plants like McCain
said we should be doing rather than whatever it is that Sittingduck's
hero Obama is doing. I can't really figure out what Obama is doing but
for sure he's not reducing unemployment.

I haven't done the research but since we haven't had a nuclear
accident in many years maybe, just maybe, this makes sense?

Still suffering from delusion of grandiosity?

Such a potty mouth too.

She was the only thing that kept McCain from crashing and burning once again.

That has to be the most intelligent thing I've ever read from you.

Seems to work for France.

Has it occurred to you that she might be jumping ship because of
ethics=criminal charges coming?

Note that she has not said why the SUDDEN departure.

And the taxpayers of Alaska are stuck with the bills of her not
finishing her term.

i'm thinking most americans are thinking the same thing.
the republican party leadership told her to resign, didn't want yet another
black eye, a sitting republican governor being lead away in handcuffs.

Expect to see her again in 2012 as she runs for President.

And wins.

Of course..she will be winning the presidency of a ruined and dying
nation with lots and lots of fresh mass graves...but...shrug

"I can't wait for for the SNL response. ;)"

Did you see the entire news conference? Palin at least used to be able to
read scripted remarks and appear coherent.
Even her Teleprompted comments seem completely inane at present. That smile
she had pasted on her face is the same smile I've seen on Pelosi, like there
is a remote controlled cattle prod up her ass with the remote in a
pranksters hands. Very creepy.

Anyway, Tina is pretty busy. She's a smart and hard working woman who's made
a real success of her career. A good role model for anyone's daughter. You'd
have to be mentally defective to want a kid to grow up to be Sarah Palin, or
anything like her.

The buzz on all of this, BTW, is that Trig isn't Todd's. He's found out and
the Palin household is about to come unglued.
He'd like to slap the lipstick off the pig he married.

I don't think so and never believed that story line. Someone might have run
the kids DNA as the result of that blow up.
Maybe even Todd. Plenty of folks had access to DNA from the entire family
you know, and there isn't a law against testing - consent or no. I'd laugh
my ass off if it turns out Levi Johnston was the father of two little
Palin's.

Of course not, but you're probably not the rabid fringe that I refer to as
democrats. How can you, as a "Democrat" possibly support your party's
policies that have spent the income for three generations, will triple
energy costs because of unproved and unquestionable "science, drive wealth

aborted 40,000,000 American babies? Don't feel bad if you dodge the

I'm not a Republican and I've been employed since 6th grade, I loaded a

businessman, I have a much better grasp on what's going on in this country

Me too.
Great humor watching Sarah Palin trying to out "Tina Fey" Tina Fey.
LOL

JC

I would agree about Fey...impressive woman all around...I wish her the
best.

As for Palin, it like watching a Jerry Springer show on endless
loop..it just gets more and more sickening as you are forced to watch
it.

Obviously Mr. Rand is far less familiar with the Democrat Party and
those that control its membership, and its actions, than he is aware of.

Toms commentary is quite inline with the policies of the Democrat and
its membership.
