This has nothing - nothing to do with George Bush.
Typical LIB knee jerk reaction. The company in Georgia had bad sanitary conditions and shipped their product to 85 companies. He doesn't own or control that company. Wonder if Carter has part interest in the American Peanut corporation IIRC that had the problem. These government agencies are trying to track down the source and discovered the connection to the peanut butter from deaths and illnesses. "Most peanut butter sold in jars at supermarkets appears to be safe, said Stephen Sundlof, head of the Food and Drug Administration's food safety center. "As of now, there is no indication that the major national name-brand jars of peanut butter sold in retails stores are linked to the recall," Sundlof told reporters in a conference call. Officials are focusing on peanut paste, as well as peanut butter, produced at a Blakely, Ga., facility owned by Peanut Corp. of America. Its peanut butter is not sold directly to consumers but distributed to institutions and food companies. But the peanut paste, made from roasted peanuts, is an ingredient in cookies, cakes and other products that people buy in the supermarket." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090117/...nella_outbreak Simple as that. At least Carter kept the American nut safe! ;) Don't eat peanut butter: U.S. authorities urge WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. health authorities urged consumers on Saturday to avoid eating peanut butter and products that contain it until they can determine the scope of an outbreak of salmonella food poisoning that may have contributed to six deaths. "We urge consumers to postpone eating any products that may contain peanut butter until additional information becomes available," Dr. Stephen Sundlof of the Food and Drug Administration's Center for Food Safety said in a teleconference with reporters.
