Warner Swasey 1A lathe f/s central Illinois
I have a WS 1A lathe that I have not been using lately. I just spotted
something else for the shop, so I am considering parting with my old friend. It is a great machine to run. Solid, rigid, and powerful. IIRC the motor is 10HP and currently wired for 240 3ph. It runs off of my rotary converter nicely. This machine has a pre-select head and power feeds on carrage, cross feed, and tail stock. This machine has a unique 8 sided tailstock turret. Several toolholders go with it. The chuck is about a 12" 3 jaw with reversable top jaws. It spins true and is in good shape. Capacity is about 15 X 36 and about a 3 inch hole through the spindle. The machine is dusty and dirty and pictures will not do it justice before I have a chance to move it out of the shop and pressure wash it. I'd really like to move it only once though as it probably weighs about 5000 lbs. I have about 1000 in the machine and will consider reasonable offers. This is not on ebay as I wanted to offer it to this group first. I can assist with delivery within a reasonable distance. I am in Mattoon Illinois, near I 57 south of Champaign, IL about 60 miles. Let me know, Bob |
