Hi,
I I want to make a cnc machine and got 3 stepper motors: nanotec
4h5618c0408 , theis motors are bipolar 200 steps by revolution ,
3.4vdc 2.85 amps 1.8 degree, 4 leads, 36 ohms by phase.
I was thinking in using this paralel port card :
http://www.cnc4pc.com/Parallel_Port_Interface_Card.htm
I supose I have to get or make a driver card
but the only h bridge that supports at least 3 amps that I have found
is the LMD18200 from national semiconductors that is rated 55v 3 amp
http://www.national.com/pf/LM/LMD18200.html

The computer is no problem , I have a dozen around me that I can use
most are pentium 2 or 3 , some are intel motherboards 810 chipset

Am I missing something? or am I in the right track? Where can I find
those chips? any suggestions? those motors seem big , how much "torq"
do they have?
What kind of cnc machine can I build with them re they enough for foam
cutting or could they be use for something like this:
http://www.pathcom.com/~vhchan/cnc/cnc.html

As it's ONLY foam, perhaps.
Drills are not made to take the side thrusts milling
can normally produce.

I suppose hot wire cutting of foam is out .....

Thanks, any help/info will be apreciated

Search for "groups" at http://groups.yahoo.com/
too. And a Google search for [stepper plans cnc]
or similar.

Everyone wants to build one it seems. Probably
a lot cheaper to buy a kit or one someone else built
(check Ebay, etc.) and fix it, if needed.
