Kids here have been going to school since last fall
more or less like normal. Sports included. The state wrestling tournament was just awhile back. The state boy's basketball tournament is going now. And yet, the big city schools in other states are shutdown. It's bad enough for an adult to miss a few months out of life. What's gonna happen? Are kids going to enter college a year later than normal? |

More fool Nebraska. Thats one reason you fools have more than half a million excess deaths now, stupiditys like that. And yet, the big city schools in other states are shutdown. Because they have more sense than Nebraska. It's bad enough for an adult to miss a few months out of life. That hasnt happened to anyone. What's gonna happen? Enough will be vaccinated so that things can return to normal. Are kids going to enter college a year later than normal? Hardly the end of civilisation as we know it. |

I expect this will be another case of "the man" oppressing minorities since the kids who need the structure of the classroom the most are going to be in those cities. They can't afford to take a year or two off. They may never recover and home school does not work if the home is a **** show. The ironic thing is Florida has demonstrated that a tight lock down like they are doing in New York and California is no more effective than being open with minimal sensible precautions. |

There's a chart here showing deaths/100,000 of the states. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1109011/coronavirus-covid19-death-rates-us-by-state/ New Jersey is worst at 265. Florida is at 148, with Nebraska at 109. Hawaii is best at 31. That last one has to be because of the beaches and the bikinis. |

Or, perhaps, because it was an island and could be locked down completely. |

It is easier to lock down an island than it is a place with 100 roads coming in and out. You can just watch the airports. Florida's problems were mainly the places that get all the New Yorkers and Jersey folks. Early on we also had the cruise ship problem. The cruise ships landed on the east coast, the governor tried to lock down those counties but the passengers scattered into the wind like dandelion seeds in a hurricane. |

It is easier to lock down an island than it is a place with 100 roads coming in and out. But they didn't do that. You can just watch the airports. Doesn't work with the considerable boat traffic they have. Florida's problems were mainly the places that get all the New Yorkers and Jersey folks. Early on we also had the cruise ship problem. The cruise ships landed on the east coast, the governor tried to lock down those counties but the passengers scattered into the wind like dandelion seeds in a hurricane. But wouldn't have been able to if they were not allowed off the cruise ship. |

It is easier to lock down an island than it is a place with 100 roads coming in and out. But they didn't do that. Yes they did. You can just watch the airports. Doesn't work with the considerable boat traffic they have. The cruise ship industry was shut down last spring. At a certain point they had to let them go. We still have a habeas corpus law here. You can't lock people up without due process. |
