Overflows in wash cycle. GE repair says change detergent. Did so
several times and still overflows.
Daughters have same machine and water softeners and have no problems.
My guess is water level in sump is too high.
Is there a water level adjustment in this model?

Most washers have a water input valve and another water level type float to
shut the water off at the right level. It is not ajustable that I know of but
the level switch may be faulty. If the inlet valve was faulty the water would
never shut off.

time....even when no more water is comming out of the drain hose the
sump is still full.

Mots dishwashers do not, the fill is "timed" by the timer or
electronic control....dishwashers do have a float switch that will
shut off power to the fill valve if the level inside gets too high.

Lower pressure fills will fill for the whole amount of time, higher
pressure fills will stop filling once the water level control lifts up
