GE GSD3800 dishwaher overflows
Posted earlier on appliance newsgroup witn no answers.
Overflows in wash cycle. GE repair says change detergent. Did so several times and still overflows. Daughters have same machine and water softeners and have no problems. My guess is water level in sump is too high. Is there a water level adjustment in this model? Is this model any good? Thank yo |

Most washers have a water input valve and another water level type float to
shut the water off at the right level. It is not ajustable that I know of but the level switch may be faulty. If the inlet valve was faulty the water would never shut off. |

Hi, GSD3800 That is part of a full model# Overflows in wash cycle. Really is overflowing?...or just leaking?? GE repair says change detergent. Did so several times and still overflows. Daughters have same machine and water softeners and have no problems. My guess is water level in sump is too high. The sump is down under the d/w....and it is full of water all the time....even when no more water is comming out of the drain hose the sump is still full. Is there a water level adjustment in this model? Mots dishwashers do not, the fill is "timed" by the timer or electronic control....dishwashers do have a float switch that will shut off power to the fill valve if the level inside gets too high. Is this model any good? Sure. http://www.applianceaid.com/dishleaks.html *Some* leaking trouble makers and helps. jeff. Appliance Repair Aid http://www.applianceaid.com/ |

It is overflowing from the sump during wash cycle, definitely not from underneath. Two daughters have same model with same water softeners and have no overflow problems. Seems like little control of water level if it is on timer rather than old style mechanical level control. Surely each home has a different water pressure supply. Is the timer for water level adjustable? Best and thank you, Seamus j. Wilson |

Hi, Thank you for kind reply. It is overflowing from the sump during wash cycle, definitely not from underneath. ?? Leaking from the lower door area?? Two daughters have same model with same water softeners and have no overflow problems. Seems like little control of water level if it is on timer rather than old style mechanical level control. Surely each home has a different water pressure supply. Sure, fill valve will work with incomming pressure of 20-100 PSIG. Lower pressure fills will fill for the whole amount of time, higher pressure fills will stop filling once the water level control lifts up to shut the power off for the fill valve. Is the timer for water level adjustable? Nope. jeff. Appliance Repair Aid http://www.applianceaid.com/ |
