If the merchant has his inventory straight, those lottery tickets are less than useless because he will know which ones were stolen when he reports them to the police. But it would be so much fun when he comes in to collect his winnings. That should be better than "Cops". |

I wondered if the legitimate ticket "sales" are on record at the Lotto Head Office - so these would be flagged as " un sold " if he were to try to cash a winner ? Dunno. Apparently the Lotto company has some data for legitimate ticket sales date, time, vendor ? - they use this info to quiz winners for verification of big prize payouts .. John T. |

They won't know unless the merchant reports them stolen but my wife used to log the starting and ending number of every roll she put out and each type had a different code in the register. If someone stole a roll, a little arithmetic would give her the number of the first stolen one (and the rest of that roll). The lotto people could immediately invalidate them in the system. Although she was only making a nickel or so a ticket, the roll was in inventory at full face value so it is worth keeping track of them. |

But it would be so much fun when he comes in to collect his winnings. That should be better than "Cops". Since most of the scratch and sniff tickets are redeemed at a retailer, it is unlikely they would wait around for the cops but you might have some good video (before it was chic to wear a mask when you weren't robbing someone). It would be funny if they hit on a megabuck ticket and went to the lotto office tho. "Wait right here honey, we have to process this for you". |
