Default plumbing nomenclature.

CBC on As It Happens just played an interview with a UK plumber, from
1994, which discussed the presesure being put on UK plumbers to stop
using the terms ballcock and stopcock. Some national board was
changing its nomenclature and insisting iiuc that plumbers use the new
words.

Whatever happened with that?
