I have propane back up but i ran out of propane but my thermostat keep trying
to kick on the auxiliary heat. How do i keep it on electric heat until i can
get propane

when you say electric heat, do you mean HEAT PUMP? or electric resistance heat?

The thermostat should have a setting that may be called emergency heat.
That runs the electric heat strips all the time.
