refrigerator wheels
It's very difficult to get my refrigerator away
from the wall. The best idea, so far is that it is probably rusted wheels. Does that sound logical? and should I be able to tip the frig on an appliance dolly and WD40 the wheels? |

I think you may have the wheels adjusted down and need to screw in the bolt that put the wheels down to role freely. There is a adjustment bolt on each front wheel and none on the back wheels. You screw in to raise the wheels to be able to role it and out to let the box sit down on the pads. TURTLE --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. So that makes me think that the wheels haven't changed position. The frig had a leak in the ice maker so that means some water may have leaked on to the wheels. I wonder if I should buy some replacement wheels before I jack up the frig. |

I still say you need to put the wheels back down for when a vinal crew comes to move the fridge to put the stuff down. They know about these wheel and will lift the wheels to make it roll and when they put it back in place. They will let the wheels down to keep the fridge from roling when you go to open the door. The vinal crew probley put the wheel back down when they put it back in place. Wheels don't freeze up in a month or two but over years and very slowly will freeze up. They don't freeze up in a month or so. Check and put the wheels back down and make it roll. TURTLE --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. How could they raise the wheels once the frig was in place in a recess in the counter space....? |

Hi, I haven't seen a make or model# of the fridge posted yet but most rerfigerator wheels stay in place and legs are added ( the legs screwed up or down ) to level the fridge, some front only wheels are adjustable. The fridge may be on the legs and the wheels are up off of the floor. The wheels or legs may have sunk into the soft floor and made a dent making it hard to pull out. We often lift the front of the fridge and place a piece of hardwood or thin plywood under the front of the refrigerator to pull it out onto so the floor doesn't get damaged. I'd only lub/oil the wheels if they really have seized up, some do but most do not. Floor gaurd may help.... http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=153&N=12914 Glide 'n' Guard Floor Protectors - Protects your floor from scuffs and scratches while moving and cleaning around major appliances. jeff. How could they raise the wheels once the frig was in place in a recess in the counter space....? this is Turtle On the front at the bottom behind the bottom snap off cover on the left and right side there is a big screw with a screw driver slot and a 9/16" nut on it and you can screw in and out the bolt to raise and lower the wheels. It is all done from the front bottom to lower and raise the wheels. I use to have a socket to attach to my cordless drill to lower or raise the wheels. If you screw in on the bolt, it will raise the box back on the wheels to be moved and then screw out on it will set the box back on the legs to make the box stay still when opening the door or pushing on it. You need to check to see if the wheels are down or up and check to see if you can move it on these wheels. TURTLE --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
