I am getting water pooled at the front bottom of the refrigerator side of my
7 year old GE Monogram refrigerator (42", side-by-side, compressor on top).
The water appears suddenly and is likely related to the self defrosting. The
GE hot line says it is likely a plug in the drain line. They will not tell
me where it is or how to unplug it.

Can anyone offer help. I would like to avoid a service call if it is
something that a reasonably adept homeowner can fix.

i think what they told you was that the drain line was plugged?????
meaning that it was stopped up with some debris????? on most refrig..
the drain line that goes from the top freezer part has to drain down
into the funnel shaped thing in the back wall of the refrig.. and then
it goes into the back of the refrig.. and down to the drain
pan(sometimes these tubes are in the back of the refrig. and sometimes
they are in the back wall of the refrig.... if you see a plastic thing
covering lights in the back wall of the refrig.. then you remove the
plastic and will probably find a funnel shaped thing that is catching
water and overflowing as it is stopped up... pull it out and clean it
out and then take a turkey baster(large plastic eye dropper looking
thing ) they cost about $2.00 at walgreens... and fill it up with hot
water and flush out the tube in the back wall and watch under the bottom
of the refrig.. for the water coming down into the drip pan... to see
the drip pan you either take the grill off the bottom front of the
refrig. or you go in from the back bottom and remove some of the
cardboard down there and shine a flashlight in the area to look for the
drip pan.... i have to do mine about once year to keep it flowing.. i
got whirlpool, but the drain on most are the same, or the same
principle.. hope this helps.
