Default Bug Pain Reliever Stick, "After Bite"

Hi,

Figured you folks would have some good suggestions.

Used the bug pain reliever stick, "After-Bite", on my 4-1/2 yr old
Grandson for a simple mosquito bite.

Kid literally went thru the roof.

Surprised, as I believe it is nothing but Ammonia in the stick that
they have been making for years.
Perhaps a change in formula ?

Anyway, anyone suggest a simple stick type applicator bug pain reliever
that won't be worse than the bite itself, and is effective ?

Thanks,
Bob

What kind of roof did he literally go through? Was it
asphalt shingles, or cedar shakes?

Did he go from up, and down into the building, or did
he start indoors and end up over the house?

Did he use a hatchet like the folks in New Orleans?

I've not tried bite remedies, but I'm curious about
the literal going through the roof.

If the skin is broken or just tender, ammonia burns like a mofo. I'm
not surprised a little kid reacted so strongly to it, it probably hurt
like hell.

I use first aid gels that contain lidocaine, since that numbs the
area. I buy the Solarcaine aloe vera gel w/lidocaine, and keep it in
the fridge - the cold gel feels good on burns and bites. An added
benefit of the gel products is that the gel dries quickly and forms a
skin over the applied area, which takes a little more effort wash or
wear off.

Might be lacerations and abrasions from the
contact with (and literally going through)
the roof.

I recommend WD-40 and duct tape.

Bleach, a mud poultice, tobacco or snuff spit. Use what you have out
in the field. Guy in Texas just died while cutting his neighbor's
lawn.

Sometimes with kids they EXPECT something to hurt, and holler blue
murder before anything even takes effext (or contacts the skin)

The juice from a stem from the jewelweed plant. I saw today that it is now
over a foot tall.

Once had a nurse tell me that Preparation H ( or
any similar prep) could be used as a localize pain
killer for insect bites. It works well on ant
bites and slows itch problem.
