It may just take a long time for the pipes to fill with the gas. If there
is a button to press for the pilot light gas, you may have to hold it in for
a very long time. The gas is not under very much pressure and the hole the
gas comes out is very small. You may want to crack open the pipe fitting
near the gas long for a few seconds to help purge the line. ust give it a
while for the gas to dissiapate before trying to light the pilot .

might be a bad tank, the safety valves on new tanks sometimes lock up and you gget no gas. so i try to have several tanks here , the one being used, and a spare or two full ready to go

If that dont do it, you may need a new thermocouple. You can buy
universal ones in most hardware or home repair stores. Google an image
of one so you know what they look like. They are ususlly pretty easy to
change. A bad thermocouple means the pilot wont light, and no pilot,
means no burner flame.

But first, make sure you can smell propane when you press the pilot
lighting button. Just dont smoke or have a flame nearby. Once you can
smell the gas, wait 5 minutes before you light it. (so the excess
propane can dissipate into the air).
