Was the correct drain tail pipe installed? Vessel sinks have a different pipe than normal sinks -- in my case. |

A partial blockage in the sewer line might cause this situation. Depending on the layout of the plumbing, the sudden influx of water from the toilet can cause an air bubble to radiate backwards from the partial blockage and force water up and out of a nearby trap. I've had roots in my sewer line that caused a partial blockage. When the 2nd floor toilet was flushed, the basement toilet (the closest trap to the outgoing sewer pipe) would gurgle and spit water. It was not a pleasant experience to be sitting on the toilet when this occurred. As soon as the sewer pipe was snaked, the gurgling and spitting stopped. |

They require a different drain tail pipe to the P-trap. The bride gets what the bride wants. I just install it |

Obviously there are specific gaskets and connectors for the specific sink being installed, but isn't a tail pipe a tail pipe? |

Obviously there are specific gaskets and connectors for the specific sink being installed, but isn't a tail pipe a tail pipe? The tail pipe has no holes that allow air in as with a typical sink for an overflow drain. The pipe is solid in nature (my case) --begin quote Overflow versus no Overflow A traditional sink comes with a secondary drain for overflow purposes. If you have ever looked inside the upper lip of the sink or around the edges, you might have seen a small hole in the ceramic or other material. This hole is the secondary drain through which water can leave the sink if the level rises to that point. A vessel sink does not usually have this hole, because it is not installed all the way under the counter. Because of this, vessel sinks do not require a drain with an overflow. You should always purchase a drain made specifically for a vessel sink that does not have an overflow. --end quote http://www.uniquevanities.com/vessel-sink-drains.html Pop-up Drain Assembly without overflow |

The flush rate of newer toilets can suck some drain traps dry especially if changing to small pipe sizes at the trap. I think the sudden inrush of water from the toilet is making her problem happen. What got flushed down the toilet to obstruct the line? Name your favorite. -- Tekkie |
