Tempurpedic materress' - your experiences

... Hi all, I already have one but want others here to post their experiences if they had problems. I didn't like mine. I am a side-sleeper and my hip didn't sink in the way it did on our old box-spring (Sealey, I think) mattress and I found that very uncomfortable. I thought it smelled (of plasticizers) and I felt sweaty when I woke up. Turning over in the middle of the night was bizarre because you were now trying to sleep left-handed in a right-handed mold of your body. One sleeper's action was well isolated from the other. I will say that. Moving it to another room (king size) was like wrestling with a giant, angry and VERY heavy Gumby. Way over-priced, IMHO but many people swear by them. Of course, some people swear by water beds, futons, and those rubber "bed of nails" things. My wife loved it. We returned it a few days before the 90 day "free" trial was up - is was not really a totally free trial, but we knew that because we actually read the contract because bed sellers rate pretty low on the ethical totem pole, IMHO. They also tried to tell me, as I read through the fine print, "That's just standard boilerplate" which *really* set off my "read carefully" alarm. Basically it was free trial delivery, but not free pickup, and that seemed fair. They had a cute way of saying if you poop, ****, puke or bleed on the mattress, you own it - they called them "biological materials." That seemed fair, too. They really did NOT want to take the mattress back and I only wish I had a video tape of their attempts to cajole us into keeping it on YouTube. They tagged teamed us and went through what must have been a company-prepared script. Though it cost over $200 to get rid of it, I still think we made the right choice. They offered us *another* 90 days to try it but even though the wife was tempted, I was done by then. Too much money for too little (actually no) benefit. I compensated with pillows to help distribute the load (me) until one night I decided enough was enough and went back to the old bed in the guest room. It was beautiful. After weeks of suffering with the big foam monster my old bed welcomed me in and I never slept better! The Tempurpedic bed went back a few weeks later. Other than that, a great bed! (-: -- Bobby G. |

If you're talking about those foam mattresses that supposedly conform to the shape of your body, my sister had one and gave it up. She's always looked normal to me, but she claims she has a curvature in her spine and that the foam mattress was exacerbating the problem. She went back to the standard coil spring mattress she always had and she says it's much better for her. I really don't know that much about it, but she said that it wasn't good for her back. I think she still has it.

Bit too firm when you just lay down each night but then it "melts" around you and after 30 minutes or less you would not want to get out of the bed (at least I don't). Except for the claim that you would not disturb your partner (and that trick with a glass of wine in the commercial) ahem... stretching the truth, I'd say it was worth the money. -- posted from http://www.homeownershub.com/mainten...es-757428-.htm using HomeOwnersHub's Web, RSS and Social Media Interface to home and garden related groups |

With my generic brand, that is very much the truth. I never feel my wife getting in or out of bed or turning. That is one of the things I like about it. It is a king size if that makes a difference with some real estate between us. |
