Paul I would generally agree, however if the bulb is cracked, it seems the bulb would leak fuel. They do get weak and not prime but not cracked.(like rubber diaphragms in old fuel pumps) |

Paul I would generally agree, however if the bulb is cracked, it seems the bulb would leak fuel. They do get weak and not prime but not cracked.(like rubber diaphragms in old fuel pumps) The bulb pump is double action. When empty and it only has air, the first compression forces the air out and into the carb. Then when released, the carb valve closes and the vacuum is supposed to pull fresh fuel in from the tank. The cycle continues, but now is using the liquid fuel instead of air. If the bulb is cracked, the first compression will eject air directly and when released, will suck in more air. There will be no fuel to leak. The valve from the bulb to the carb could also be stuck open. Cleaning the carb should solve that. Paul |

Loosen the tank cap a bit, disconnect the line from the carb and see if gas comes out of the line?? HD may have a bulb repair kit.
