Default Idaho father arrested after child wanders into bar alone

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- Idaho State Police tracked down and arrested
the father of a 2-year-old boy who was found after he wandered into a
Coeur d’Alene bar alone.

The boy walked into Sully’s Pub and Grill on N. Government Way around
12:30 p.m. Sunday.

He told officers his name was Jake Edwards, and that his dad’s name is
Jesse Edwards. The boy was wearing an inside out pajama top,
sweatpants and boots, and a diaper that looked like it had not been
changed for awhile, police said.

Officers contacted 36-year-old Jesse Edwards of Hayden by cell phone,
and were able to confirm Jake Edwards is his child.

Police met up with Jesse Edwards at the Hayden Wal-mart. Officers said
he appeared to be under the influence of a substance.

Authorities said Edwards offered no explanation about how he became
separated from his child.

Edwards was placed under arrest for child endangerment and taken to
jail.

The child’s mother has not made contact with Idaho State Police.

It is not known where and with whom the child is staying.

A 12 year old walks into a bar and orders a drink.
The barmaid laughs and says.......do you want to get me in trouble?
12 year old says.........Maybe later. Right now, I just want a drink.

So you don't think Mitt was smarter than the POTUS? Mitt can do math
for sure. Bain Capital saved a local park in Chicago where Barack and
Michelle first "kissed". A large rock has a plaque denoting the

POTUS is now advocating "Promise Zones" in Chicago.

So, what exactly have you accomplished in your life compared

Hand out maybe a hundred million to charity over a lifetime?
Build and run a successful venture capital company that saved

Mitt is the quentessential American. He's demonstrated it.

In spite of all that success, he did not resonate with the middle
class. Joe Sixpack still votes and saw no kinship with the man born
with the silver spoon. He is not the kind of guy you can have a beer
with over the backyard fence.

The Republican Party must make major changes in their makeup and who
they propose as candidates or they will never win a major election.
Many people that I know voting for Mitt use the reasoning "he is not
as bad as the other guy". He did not have a chance in this election,
never will considering the makeup of the US voting population.

Default Mitt, not as bad

I figured the choice was a Mass liberal versus a foreign born socialist.
What choice is that?

Mitt may be the quintessential CAPITALIST but what it seems the only
thing in your list that he didn't do for money is the Olympics and even
that is debatable.

I know you'll ask this of me, but what is it you have accomplished in
your life compared to Mitt?

The postal service's problems are not from affirmative action.

It's from the business model of making you and I pay enough for first
class stamps to let junk mail go nearly free.

The more we switch to e-mail and other online mechanisms, the more they
have to raise the stamp prices. Which makes us even more likely to use
the 'net, so they raise it again.

The rot started from within long before the technology placed any
pressure on The USPS. I watched it happen with my own eyes and heard it
from the mouths of the folks who were there when it was happening. You
can believe whatever P.L.L.C.F. codswallop you want and I won't think
any less of you for it. ^_^

Actually most of the problem lies with Congress and the way they are
making USPS pay all of their retiree health insurance payments in
advance. Something no other company that I am aware of is mandated to
do. Its financial problems are the direct result of an unfair provision
in the Postal Accountability and Enhancements Act that mandates that the
Postal Service fully fund 75 years of future retiree healthcare costs
(even for future employees not yet born) in over 10 years. No other
government agency or public company in America, including UPS or FedEx,
is required to pre-fund future retiree health benefits.
From 2007 through 2010, net operating losses for that same period
were $20.2 billion. The entire amount is due to the payments to pre-fund
those future retiree health benefits which $20.9 billion have been made
in the past four years. Thus, without the unique burden imposed by the
pre-funding requirement, everything else equal, the Postal Service would
have enjoyed a cumulative profit of $700 million during those years. '

Also, most studies show that junk mail actually subsidizes first class
mail.

You have a reference for those studies? Junk mail
apparently slightly exceeds the volume of regular mail.
Yet they are paying as little as 1/3 the rate. I guess it
could be made up in part by the fact that it doesn't
have to be fully sorted, run through the system individually,
etc. At least some of it comes in a big bundle and
the carrier just puts one in each box.

And factor in the postal services problems is that
Congress won't let them close or consolidate unprofitable
post offices. They have to keep them open to provide
convenient service so some folks won't have to drive
another 5 miles to the post office.

That's not quite true. ERISA requires funding of defined benefit
pension plans in much the same way. Several employers have had to
throw billion$ into their pension plans to catch up. This is one of
the reasons that defined benefit plans have gone the way of the DoDo.
They're unsustainable. The difference is that the USPS had to catch
up, after being a branch of the US government (which is exempt from
all of its own rules) to a "private" corporation. In reality, it has
the worst of both worlds; the efficiency of being run by Congress, and
the need to compete in the real world.

This is not pension funding (which is actually over funded according
to things I have seen). This is for the health insurance component and,
again, I know of no company that is required to prefund the health
component.
