Default The friggin' gun nuts and political "experts / authorities" are spoilingthis newsgroup!!

Threads and replies on off-topic subjects having nothing to do with home
repair show enormous disregard and disrespect for those of us who come
here to seek help or provide help to others in home repair.

Why not take your sage advice and expert opinions about guns, politics,
and all your other bull**** to the many dozens of forums where people
congregate to discuss these matters??

Sorry. Your post is OT and not marked as such.

Have a home repair question?

Hi. Threads are more of a craft item than a home repair thing, so
maybe you could locate a craft newsgroup where your question would fit
in. Thanks.

Otoh, for every gun nut, perhaps there's a gun bolt. What size
threads do they use?

Believe it or not, I agree with you.

On the other hand, when someone posts a political remark (OT or not) that is
incoherent, false, or simply insane, I try not to allow it to stand
unchallenged. I usually don't respond to those rants that are clearly the
product of a diseased or drug-addled mind. I figure most folks will likewise
disregard them and figure the source to be the computer lab in a mental
health facility.

But sometimes a defective will post something that SEEMS sort-of reasonable
on its face but causes those of us with knowledge or experience in the
matter to stand up on our hind legs and scream "May your thigh fills up with
salt water!"

Edmund Burke said: "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good
men to remain silent." Or maybe it was Pee Wee Hermann who said it - doesn't
matter, the point's still valid.

They do it to watch people like you get bent out of shape.

Nobody's forcing you to read them, so don't.

Oh, you mean like a Republican? I try to ignore those, too. OT is OT, it
doesn't belong here, and responding to offer your own misguided view is
NOT helpful. Chain-jerking doesn't last long when the jerker doesn't
feel any backlash.

Now g'head, try some new behaviour, and don't respond to this. The first
non-response is the hardest, but you can do it. Fondle a gun instead or
something. Pretty soon you'll be ignoring political and gun threads with
the best of us.

Of course not, silly man.

You'd be surprised at the number of private emails I get thanking me for
insightful, clear, cogent, and convincing retorts to those who would do us
great harm.

Chain-jerking doesn't last long when the jerker
doesn't feel any backlash.

You make a good point in that most trolls feed on rebuke. Negative strokes
are better than no strokes at all - exasperation validatea the troll's
existence and givea meaning to his otherwise dreary life. But, like the
weirdo who keeps shouting "Thy end is near!" in Times Square, there ARE
those who must verbalize the demons inside them.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I already practice safe flacks. As I said
earlier, I never respond to out-and-out mental diarrhea. Psychotics are
beyond my poor skills to rehabilitate.

Sensible, polite, and clever folks - such as yourself - are wonderful folks
with which to engage. You may come to understand and appreciate another
point of view.

THAT'S NOT WHAT THEY SAID ABOUT YOU IN THE LAST PSYCHIATRIC
CONFERENCE.
BTW, YOU ARE NOT ON MY LIST, YET.
