OT Cell phone caller ID
First, I would be posting this in a cell phone group if I could find
an active one. Anyone know of one? My teenaged niece talked another relative into putting her on their cell phone plan.......Guess how that turned out? Well anyway, after over 300 bucks for ring tones almost everything else the cell phone companies have been able to charger for, I ended up with a cell phone and a 11$ per month bill. The problem is that when I call someone their caller ID displays "Steve and Kathy" My name isn't even close to those. I asked Kathy if she could change what the caller ID says and she said she couldn't. I would think with so many people added to a package they would fix that problem. I get the feeling she just doesn't want to mess with it. It is a Sprint phone and the provider is Verizon. |

The last I knew, most cell phone companies did not provide name information with their caller id data. The "Steve and Kathy" is coming from the called phone's address book. If you call someone you never called before, they will only see the number. |

So you get a cell phone for 11 bucks a month you can use and want the nice person that sponsors you and your unresponsible daughter [300$ in ring tones] to change their CID so when you call your friends it doesnt show the sponsor . Am I missing something, and you dont have your own cell, for 11 bucks a month Id let my CID say anything. |

Sometimes it's tied to the account, in which case the person responsible for the account (Kathy) gets to do whatever she wants with it. After all, she's doing one favor for you already. Don't be ungrateful. If it's really that important to you, you'd best purchase your own plan. http://cellphoneforums.net/sprint-pc...-possible.html |

OT Cell phone caller ID
In the front of my phone book, there is instructions for
call ID blocking "dial star number number, and the phone co will stop sending your number with calls. Dial star number number, and that will remove privacy." Please read the first couple pages of your white pages, it should be explained how to activate or remove the privacy. -- Christopher A. Young Learn more about Jesus www.lds.org .. "Jim Elbrecht" wrote in message ... My sister's cell phone gives her number. [and she doesn't know why] OTOH- my mom's landline appears as 'private'- though they have a listed number and a basic plan. |

Dial star number number, and that will remove privacy." Yeah, that's *82, which I use since I have caller ID blocking (outgoing), and certain people I call won't answer if they see a blocked number. Dunno about that other function (I suspect it's "star ##", not "## star", though ). -- You were wrong, and I'm man enough to admit it. - a Usenet "apology" |

My area, there is a code for one time cancell privacy, and
another code to cancell privacy forever. Front of the phone book, to find out for your area. -- Christopher A. Young Learn more about Jesus www.lds.org .. "David Nebenzahl" wrote in message .com...
