Default removing a toilet flange.. ?

Hi,
i am trying to replace a broken/rusted flange. and i think it is
made of plastic. It is glued to the a PVC pipe (black) - which is the
sewer pipe. what are the methods to remove the old flange ? i can see if
i can put in a hack saw and saw the flange - but then i will be taking
out part of the sewer pipe with it too.. are there any other methods ??

thanks,
+ravi

Before you decide to replace it, check out places like Ace Hardware, Home
Depot, or Lowes and look for a metal ring that just goes over the old broken
one. They make them for broken flanges.

Just saw off the sewer pipe of in the basement and replace a section
with a new flange. Not difficult nor expensive.

Also what I would do, but you may not be that bold or have the tools.

Any decent supply house will have more than one repair option for the type
of flange you have.

Not likely you will find it at the BORG (big old retail giant).

"a broken/rusted flange. and i think it is made of plastic."

Plastic doesn't rust.

You're sure it's plastic?

the flange itself was made of plastic - but the nuts and everything
around it rusted. Upon removal, i find out that the flange itself is
broken - so the toilet bolts couldn't stick.

I sawed off the whole top of the flange and then inserted a new flange
and bolted it down using a flange ring too.

thanks for all your ideas !
