Default Is a 215-lb. safe too heavy to wheel into an apartment building by myself?

You sound experienced. Eric does also. What do you think about using
the wheels that are already on the safe?

Depends on the wheels.

Yes, I've done this before, and learned how to do it right.

Just use the clamp-on handle trick with the dolly:

You can't move a dense object with no handles like an appliance or a
piece of furniture.

I didn't say that clearly.

A dense object like a safe, with no handles, is impossible to lift and move
without tools. One trick is to clamp handles on it for leverage and for
multiple persons to assist with. I guarantee you'd never lift a 215 lb
cube of solid gold, even if you're an Olympic champion.

An heavy appliance or piece of furniture can be tipped and budged with
wheels an no other tools. Much different than a dense safe.

He is not moving a cube of solid gold. (which would be easy to lift
with some cinderblocks and a 2x4 and a prybar)

All he needs to do is tie his safe to the "hand truck" and tip it a
little, and go.

215 lbs is not very dense for a safe.

I move stuff like this from time to time. For example, I unloaded and
put in place this compressor by myself. It is a lot heavier and
"top-heavier" than a 215 lbs safe.

Should be interesting when word gets around the neighborhood that Chris

Actually it's brilliant; put the safe in your apartment, then just
leave all your valuables in a desk drawer.

Hi, I want to buy asafewith these specs I copied and pasted below.
The company doesn't deliver inside houses--they only do curbside
delivery. So I am hoping someone can tell me whether if I borrow a
handtruck from one of the porters or the superintendent of the
building I live in, if I will be able to wheel it into my building on
a ramp or is 215 lbs. too heavy?

The ramp slopes down and it's pretty steep (it starts from the ground
and goes into the basement). Would I need help?

Thanks again.

215 lbs.

Your email didn't ring a bell in Myspace, and I am not going to search
the entire Internet to find a picture of you.

So unless you can produce a picture of yourself, how the hell am I
supposed to know if you're Mark Henry, the World's Strongest Man who
deadlifted 903 pounds or Sitre Magana, the World's Fattest Man who
deadlifted 903 doughnuts?

I can assume that you might not have anything to worry about, as many
average size men can push Sitre Magana's fat ass around, and he's 487
pounds not including the weight of the wheelchair.

And the question has nothing whatthe****soever to do with home repair,
electronics repair, pet rats, autism or sports-entertainment.

I need to get it in my house, so I can make a future post about
drilling it into my floor. SOmeone in here confirmed my belief that it
will become old hat and a novelty real quickly--so I am going to get a
small one that I can life with one arm, because I don't have expensive
jewelry. I can use it to divert burglars and to waste their time and
keep them occupied, so as they don't come accross other kinds of
valuables that will do them well to steal; like the proprietary lease
to my apartment, my book I'm writing, my ATM card.
